Kim Bongseon Encouragement Prize

Ms. Kim Bongseon has made a commitment to donate a scholarship again for this school year. “Kim Bongseon Scholarship” will be given to students who excelled at their studies in Korean history and culture and dedicated their talent and knowledge for various cultural events the Korean Studies Program organizes throughout the year.
Congratulations to 2020 recipients: Stav Cohen, Alina Sobolevsky, Roni Gott, Gebyanes Addisu and Shelly Paker.

2021 Korea Foundation Language Scholarship

This is a Korean language scholarship by Korea Foundation for 6 months (minimum) or 12 months (maximum) held at Sogang University. The scholarship is available for bachelor’s, master’s and doctorates degrees, professors and professionals with a clear connection to Korea.

The deadline for submission is 31.8.2020.

Commencement of studies in March 2021 or September 2021.

2020 AKS Graduate Fellowship

Academy of Korean Studies is seeking applications for the 2020 AKS Graduate Fellowship. It’s a non-degree program that invites international graduate students abroad in the fields of Korean studies to the Graduate School of Korean Studies, the Academy of Korean Studies, and offers opportunities to conduct research in Korea for 6 months.

7 Feb: Korean Friday with Mrs. Nivi Elroi on Modern Korean Art and Artists.

11 Feb: start of monthly workshops/meetings of students and post-docs at HUJI in Korean studies (thanks to Benjamin Katzeff, a visiting PhD student from University of Pennsylvania who initiated them!)

25 Feb: Dr Ira Lyan will give a talk on Korea vs Orbotech lawsuit at Israeli Sociological Society Annual Conference.
